Catalysing collective action for health equity

Pathways WayForward Convening with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Nairobi 2024

Challenge

Maternal and child health inequities persist because decision-makers often lack tools to integrate social determinants alongside health metrics. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Pathways initiative uses a vulnerability framework to support more targeted investments for change. To scale its impact, a global convening was needed to build alignment on its use cases.

Approach

Weave team members designed and co-facilitated an interactive gathering of 150 leaders, funders, and practitioners. Through storytelling, segmentation exercises, and futuring activities, women’s lived experiences were placed at the centre of collaborative problem-solving and visioning.

Outcome

The convening generated alignment and shared priorities, strengthened the Pathways community of practice, and seeded collaborations to apply the framework in practice — shaping more equitable healthcare solutions worldwide.

An interative gathering where people stand together around beautiful tapestries hanging from a roof, which hold peoples stories on them. They are standing around reading and listening with headphones on.
